So, by the time this auto-posts, I should be at the starting line of the Marine Corps Marathon. Or somewhere around it at any rate.
I am writing this the night before, as I prepare to toss and turn in bed.. The Expo was a success –
I picked up my bib, Mock and lots of cool shwag. I also bought the official Marine Corps Marathon Brooks Jacket. (The red and black is way better than last years blue one.) Both are packed up in my “bag-check” to be good to go tomorrow for my post-race OMG I CANT WALK clothing.
Clothes are laid out..
Water bottles/belt are ready to go.
Disposable warm clothes – ready to go.
My training has been solid, so I know I will do well. My goal? I plan on completing it around 4:20 at the slowest – which will beat Oprah’s time of 4:29. (In other words, I plan on running faster than Oprah’s 10:16/mile no matter what!), with 4 hours being the fastest I could do.
Congratulations on a great MCM! I hope it was well worth all of the hard work and training, and the two disappointing years of injury that kept you from doing it earlier. What a great accomplishment! Surely something that you can be very proud of. Welcome to the ever growing, but still exclusive club of marathoners, and more exclusive club of Marine Corps Marathoners!!!
