I spent yesterday at my Daughter’s School for the WATCH D.O.G.S program, which put off when I could get this out! After my run with the boy on Saturday, we did not give up on our running already!
I am trying to keep in mind that my son is just starting out, and is only 11. Consequently I had him pound out a mile on the treadmill on sunday, keeping a steady 6mph. He did unfortunately get a side cramp, but he didn’t let it stop him! He rocked right through it! Not only did he pound it out, but he did so right before he had to get ready for a concert with the Maryland State Boychoir!
Me? I jumped on for a quick 5k, running at an 8:30/mile. The part that surprised me, is that other than dealing with the boredom of a treadmill, it wasn’t the least bit difficult! Breathing was easy, keeping the legs moving was easy… Apparently I didn’t lose as much as I thought I did from my extended post-marathon break! Maybe this weekend I will try to pound out 10 or more miles and see how that goes.
