Post Cherry Blossom Pain.. And wrap up with the numbers!

proofSo, two days after the beautiful run, and I have to admit – I hurt less than i did RIGHT after the run.  This is the penalty I pay for stopping training after January, and have no one to blame but myself!  I’m able to navigate stairs with no flinching (a change from yesterday), although running isn’t really a great option.. I did run for half a mile warm up at today’s personal training session, and by the end it wasn’t TO bad..  But I was glad we didn’t do legs today!

I didn’t give the numbers in my race recap, I liked the flow of the pretty pictures too much to include boring information!  All in all, the time wasn’t too bad

official results

runMy unOfficial results, which seem to keep changing, currently read as finishing at 1:23:29, with a pace of 8:53.6.   Last time I looked, it had me at a low 8 pace, due to the inaccurate distance measurement.  I don’t agree with their time though. I started my phone (Runkeeper) and paused it at 12 seconds – before I crossed the starting line.  Then, let it go as I went over the line – so at this point, I was already 12 seconds “slower” than what I was actually running. I stopped it when I crossed the 2nd measuring at the finish line – the one that is actually BEHIND the flags.  Even with that extra padding in, I came up with an 8:41 pace.

Now I must admit that their “duration” was faster than mine, showing I am suffering from the “GPS measures longer than the race measures” – But I like my 8:41 pace better.  Since the course WASN’T 10 miles – I’m sticking with that.  Obviously they still don’t have their measurements right 😉

wpid-screenshot_2015-04-13-20-09-22.pngI was very pleased with my pace as well.  While not exactly negative splits, the trend was in the right direction!

I was surprised at how well I got through/around the clumps and that fourth mile?  WOW!

With those numbers, I’m ok with hurting!

About

I run, because I am a runner. Having realized that I have always "been a runner" - even when I went years with out running, I am learning how it has integrated itself in all aspects of my life. When I started running in highschool, my perspective on life changed. Funny that I didn't realize how much it had affected it until just recently.
