Practiced the last 5 miles of the Marathon

So, last night I went for a run.  I know that is s uprising considering this is a running blog and all, but I felt it was worth mentioning.  I was exhausted to the point that I felt it in my arms/legs.  In the past I probably would have talked myself out of running (it wouldn’t have been that difficult) but I have decided to “suck it up” and not let those excuses keep from going!

I headed out knowing I needed the run (one of those days!) and thought 5 miles seemed about right, and it was!  I got home properly tired and feeling mentally/emotionally rested.  Running really is cheaper than the alternatives (alcohol, drugs, affairs, etc), and healthier at the same time!

Mile 1: 8:47
Mile 2: 8:23
Mile 3: 8:23
Mile 4: 9:07
Mile 5: 8:54

I have been slacking on the strength training lately, but will be adding that back on today.  I also see a good multivitamin, or  vitamin pack in my near future to make sure I am getting all of the nutrients.  I am also working on getting the proper number of calories vs the exercise I am doing.  The whole weight loss vs being active question!

This weekend is the Forks XV, so I am looking forward to that. My goal is to pull it off in 1:20, 10 minutes faster than my 15k at the boilermaker last year.

About

I run, because I am a runner. Having realized that I have always "been a runner" - even when I went years with out running, I am learning how it has integrated itself in all aspects of my life. When I started running in highschool, my perspective on life changed. Funny that I didn't realize how much it had affected it until just recently.
