#Janathon Day 3 – Snow Day?

You know, I thought I left this behind when I left NY!

You know, I thought I left this behind when I left NY!

So it wasn’t ACTUALLY a snow-day in the sense that my kids think of them.  I still have to go to work today, just two hours late!  As I knew there was a couple of inches of snow on the ground, I laid in bed  after my alarm went off at 5:30.  See, I know that our company policy is that we will know by 6 if there are any weather-related closing or delays.  Since I had planned on continuing my streak of 3 mile runs, I knew I had enough time starting at 6, to complete it and be to work on time. If we DID have a delay, then I could lay in my comfy warm bed (my favorite part of the day!) longer, and STILL get my workout in before work!

The good news was  2 hour delay!!! (I know, I already gave that away.. go with it anyway!)  My plan unfolded exactly as it should have, with extra cuddling time with the Wife, and my son!  Even with that quality time, I was able to run 3 miles, walk 1 (warm up and cool down) AND make everyone breakfast!

I am suffering from my post-lifting pain, from my chest/tri workout on monday. Putting on a shirt or jacket HURTS!!!  I know that gets better though.  I have a Back/Bi/Shoulders on deck for tonight!

I am feeling some tightness in my left Plantar Fascia, but let’s be honest – that is to be expected.  I have not used any KT tape yet this year, and have the normal running shoe soles in – instead of my orthotics.  So far so good!

Life is good!

So how is your January going? Any lifestyle changes?

About

I run, because I am a runner. Having realized that I have always "been a runner" - even when I went years with out running, I am learning how it has integrated itself in all aspects of my life. When I started running in highschool, my perspective on life changed. Funny that I didn't realize how much it had affected it until just recently.

  1. DJ Kirkby says:

We had hail and gale force winds here today so I stayed in and did planking (mixed with other exercise) so that’s a new one for me!

  2. Jim Brennan says:

My biggest change is inactivity. First injury in four years. Had to drop out of 50K tomorrow. Bummer! Hoping to rehab for another by March. Good luck!

  3. It’s going ok at the mo, although it’s back to work on Monday. So I’m sure it’s going to get tougher!

  4. […] up the run with my usual static stretches.  I didn’t get the plank in yet, but since DJ Kirby has been sharing with me how effective they seem to be –  I promise to get one in […]
