#Janathon Day 8 – the treadmill

image

So… 9 degrees in Maryland… You know what that means, right?

Treadmill at the gym!

So, after dinner was mostly made, the wife took over and I headed off to the gym!  Apparently  7 o’clock is a fairly popular time in the evening for the New Years Resolution  crowd.  I’m not knocking them mind you, I applaud anyone that is trying to better themselves and is exercising.  I was simply suprised to see all of the treadmills but two taken!  Fortunately,  I only needed one, so the odds were ever in my favor.

Now, if you follow me on facebook, you saw me post a picture of my new shoes.  If not, I will be ever so kind, and show you now!

They are Saucony’s zero drop shoe.  Now that Altra has raised the size of their shoe sole from regular to ginormous, I am sadly forced to try other makes/models.

Why do I mention this now?  Tonight was my first run in them!  So, when I hopped on the treadmill, it was with my Shiney new shoes!  My first impression  of them is pretty fair.  The feel a bit more wibbly-wobbley then my Instincts, but to be fair I have been running in that model for years.  It wasn’t enough to bother me, but noticeable at first.  I adapted quickly.

I’m not going to do any more of a review here now, as I want a few more runs in them first.

I got three miles in at 7 mph and then  walked a short cool down.  I am ready for the ultra-cold to pass, do I can get back outside.  This run seemed to tame forever!  However, forever passed.  Run complete, Janathon day 7 done!

About

I run, because I am a runner. Having realized that I have always "been a runner" - even when I went years with out running, I am learning how it has integrated itself in all aspects of my life. When I started running in highschool, my perspective on life changed. Funny that I didn't realize how much it had affected it until just recently.

after a quick conversion to degrees centigrade to accomodate my britishness…

Exactly! So its either do yoga (Which I have hated every single time I do it), or the treadmill. The treadmills at the gym have lots of room to go flying off the back if needed. 🙂

Welcome to the weather of Northern Wisconsin! I haven’t run for a while but even a brisk walk is interesting in this weather. There were a couple of guys running in the campground but that was last week at about 20 degrees F. We are below zero again today. It’s all about the clothes!!! Great treadmill run for you. I run in Vivobarefoot trail runners with big wools socks.

My brain cannot comprehend how cold 9’f actually is! I think it is chilly now, and it is probably 8’c here (England) right now! Well done on powering through with the treadmill though!
