Ok, Ok… I admit it.. I may have dropped off the earth as far as the end of Janathon blogging went…. But I did NOT drop off the face of the earth as far as exercising and eating right goes! I think that if one of the three had to give, that I chose right.
Of course, if the others had been the ones to go.. I wouldn’t have had much to blog about… Which supports me!
An excellent bit of rationalization, if I do say so my self.. Certainly deserving of a happy dance! Heck, I think completing Janathon and a Whole 30 deserve the happy dance as well!
My total mileage for the month, and all of Janathon was 84 miles. I think for my first month back to regular running – very nice! (It would seem a bit redundant to do the happy dance video again… So I won’t… but you should IMAGINE it here also!)
My total weight loss for the “whole30” – 10.1 pounds!! Not at my goal weight yet, but this put me a significant way toward it! This did bring up conversations amongst my wife and myself (With the kids chiming in that we need to have cake more often), about how we were going to continue from here. What our new-found enjoyment of healthy eating, combined with her missing cheese and my missing wine – was going to lead to in our near future.
The first near future, was of course celebrating a non-restricted diet.
Yes, we seriously set this out on the table and waited for 8 o’clock pm – the point where it was EXACTLY 30 days from when we started the Whole30. We had two sets of neighbors over (and their kids) to help us, and the left-overs became our kid’s superbowl party! (Well, except they watched the Matrix instead of the superbowl – while my wife and I headed to the gym.)
I will admit, I MAY have put a little bit of weight back on this weekend.. but it was worth it…
So long-term, we are going to maintain a mostly Whole30/Paleo diet. I say mostly -because we plan on still occasionally having wine.. Occasionally eating out at BAD places.. The current thought process is one day off during the week (which is likely to be just dinner to be honest), and one day off on the weekend. Neither of these being firm rules, but more a general guide line. This will let us continue to drop weight and get to where we want to be (I’m tired of being the typical pudgy runner-guy.. I want to be the typical rail-thin runner guy)
So, that covers the Whole30 aspect!!!
Now looking forward.. As you know (or will pretend to, in order for this blog-posting to continue), I meet with a personal trainer on Tuesday morning with my wife. We are going to sit down with her, and work out a schedule for each of us – covering the Tuesday mornings, as well as our individual work-out goals/desires. I have decided (and already done it twice in the last week) to add swimming in as a regular part of my routine. I’m not saying that I AM going to do a triathlon – but it won’t hurt to have all the skills needed in case I someday decide I am insane that it would be fun.
So, there is a rough catch-up and look forward.. I left a bunch out, that will come out in future posts I’m sure.. Wierd Hip pain, race schedule changes, Race Ambassador, giveaways…
So stay tuned!
